GUEST RELATIONS ASSOCIATE (Customer Service/Sales)

If you are an animal lover AND a people lover, join our dynamic Guest Relations team at Austin Zoo! We are seeking to hire outgoing, reliable, hard-working individuals to work in our customer service and retail roles as part of our Guest Relations team, which covers Admissions, Gift Shop, and our Animal Feeding Area. We are a non-smoking workplace.

Full-time or part-time positions. Hours are generally 9 am – 5 pm, but shift slightly each season to accommodate public hours. Weekdays and weekends available, but must be able to work on Saturdays or Sundays (or both if you seek part-time hours only).

Full-Time or Part-Time Facilities & Maintenance Person

If you love animals and enjoy working in a unique outdoor setting surrounded (safely) by wild and exotic rescued animals, then come work for us! Austin Zoo is seeking an experienced individual for on-site general maintenance, basic carpentry & plumbing work, some mechanical work. Must have the ability to perform physical labor in all types of weather and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Must be familiar with different types of tools and maintenance equipment & supplies.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: habitat construction and repair, metal and carpentry work, facilities and building maintenance and cleaning, transport of animal care supplies, painting, etc.

Full-Time or Part-Time Groundskeeper & Facilities Caretaker

If you love animals and would enjoy working in a unique outdoor setting surrounded (safely) by wild and exotic rescued animals, then come work for us! Austin Zoo is seeking an experienced individual for on-site groundskeeping, general maintenance, and clean-up responsibilities. Must have the ability to perform physical labor in all types of weather and be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.

Duties may include, but are not limited to: trimming/weeding, raking, light tree trimming, potting and planting, watering, pruning, other light general grounds maintenance, painting and minor facility repairs, transporting hay to animal care areas, trash pick-up, some facility cleaning and re-stocking including restrooms.

Full-Time CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN and ZOOKEEPER

This position will have dual roles as a veterinary technician and zookeeper. Under the general supervision of the Zoo Veterinarian and General Curator, the Veterinary Technician assists in the care of all zoological specimens in the collection. The Veterinary Technician has a key role in the implementation of preventative medicine programs as well as high quality patient care and welfare.

We are located in the Austin Zoo Train Depot at 10808 Rawhide Trail. Our ideal candidate is attentive, punctual, reliable and engaged.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving the Austin Zoo Train

  • Ringing train tickets and concessions

  • Filling concessions as needed

  • Maintaining a clean train depot area

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Must be able to get on and off the train repetitively, and with ease

  • Must be well groomed

  • Must be able to stand for at least 6 hours
